Can a chicken hatch duck eggs?

our trained bird dog discover a mallard duck nest by our pound and scared the mother off. we would have just waited for her to come back but the dog will eat the eggs so we took them and put them under one of our chickens and she accepted it fine. is there any chance they will survive? and if they do what do we do with them after they hatch? if we let them go in the pond the dog will kill them, but will the chickens kill them the moment they hatch?
