How to convince family that a nursing home is the best option for our parent?

If it is not practical for all of you to take turns taking care of him or agreeing on a home, in-house care sounds like the best option. He is being taken care of in his own home and everyone can come check on him. Its especially hard to convince your family to accept he is nearing his time and i do not suggest you try. Your more likely to convince your family to have a trained medical attendant to take care of him where they can check up on him regularly check on him to satisfy their concerns and give him professional care, rather then have him put in a home.

My husband and i have been together for 11 years, which up until now, has been fantasticlly fun filled and loving. 7 years go we moved away so that he could be close to his familys' new business and then after a few years of longing for an old property to renovate we finally found one and we were so very, very happy doing this up. It was absolutely perfect, it was so exciting and we put all our efforts into it and then the icing on the cake, along came our longed for daughter 3 1/2 years ago with fertility help who we adore. I chose to be made redundant after my maternity leave, the firm i worked for were relocating and i was reluctant to travel so took the redundancy as i knew it would help with the renovations. My family home was my priority. At the same time his familys' business really took off and he became completely involved in it, living and breathing it. I suddenlly felt like my daugher and I and the house took a back seat and it seemed like my romantic idea of homelife disappeared and i was struggling as a first time mum. My husband said i was suffering post natal depression but i think i was grieving for what i felt i was losing. I was now juggling going back to work with promblematic childcare and felt things were going out of focus and i felt i was sorting out my life and getting on with that and my husband was doing the same but with his life. Intimacy disappearing overnight. I felt my husband was no longer focussed on the same things as me and we started to argue and contemplated splitting up. Lots of shouting, and sometimes getting physical especially when he kept coming home drunk from pool nights with the lads who at the end of the day are out to get bladdered!! So while i would be trying to catch up on sleep he was coming home at 2am. It got out of control and he was so out of it on a couple of occasions that i despised him because he came home with a back eye, and got fined for peeing in public - he's nearly 40! He was struggling too though getting used to the pressures of his new job which i do understand. And he probably despised me for not being supportive. We had arguments all of the time. Now our attitudes towards eachother stink, his personality has changed in my view, perhaps ive changed too because i no longer have the self esteem i had since giving up my old job in law when i had our daughter. He is now startng a new business as well which is great but his personality seems to have gone completely business like and even the way he talks about general life is so business like i feel like he's made of stone and where is the man i married. Maybe I just need to realise that we are no longer young and free of responsibility and that all these things change us. Perhaps i need to grow up and stop getting upset if things dont turn out as I hoped. At the end of the day he is doing his utmost best to make a financially secure future for us all and maybe i need to sacrifice some things for him to do this. Am i being naive? When we were younger we got into terrible debts (frivilous and carefree with money), we are still paying it off. He's going to make us very financilly comfortable. So why are we sniping and biting eachother's heads off now and making eachother go on guilt trips about the most petty things. we cant talk about anything without arguing, there is no way we could go to counselling because he doesnt believe in all that . On top of all this we have been trying for a brother or sister for our daughter since september again with fertility help, only for me to miscarry recently!!!! We are now supposed to be trying again but with the state of our relationship and feeling so stressed i hardly think its the right time but time is running out as we are both close to 40. This has been longwinded but i felt i had to tell whe whole story for it all to make sense.

Mallard duck egg candeling at 30 days?

Why aren't my baby ducks not hatching?

i ordered ducks eggs so that i can hatch them. i ordered 10 mallards and 2 buffs. I can only answer your question with my life lesson. I have all that jazz you have plus a electrical engineering degree. I have found out through life that the only thing a honorable gives you is a small gi bill check that is not going to cover the entire cost of your schoolin'. Your gi bill does help but your DD-214 isn't going to help you find a job. Long story short; get your engineering degree at all cost because your DD-214 and secret clearance isn't worth crap.

How to fix a broken mallard duck wing?

I have 4 juvinile mallard ducks that are just starting to fly and when my sister threw her favorite one in the air (its name is pepsi) she only threw it a few feet above her head so Pepsi only had a moment to open her wings, and when she did she hit the side of our garage. I just downloaded TeamViewer onto two laptops. One is my own, and one me and my roommate share. Basically what I want to do is log into the remote computer, however, it tells someone when i'm on it. Back from college, and people expect things to be the same...?

Hi, so there is a lot of negative energy in my house and most of it is directed at me even though I do absolutely nothing to offend anyone. I used to clean up the house thoroughly in high school as one of my chores, in addition to after school sports, and a job and now that I'm back home, I really don't feel the need or responsibility to stress myself out cleaning up after my irresponsible, filthy family. Now that I refuse to follow after people picking their stuff up, my mom has been having anger outburst about how I'm not cleaning up the house. I don't make messes, I clean up after myself like a responsible adult, and I have the right to defend myself in the midst of unwarranted anger from my mom and from my nearly absent father. Remember what I said about juggling all those activities in high school? Yeah, I have a sixteen year old sister who can't clean a thing because "she's in school all day". And people just accept it! Does this sound like a good idea for a book series?

I would much rather read a book about unpredictable teen characters. It sounds like a book that's been written before. Be original. Do more research in what you want your characters to be like and even address a real social issue like bullying, that is a problem in society today. Don't just make these characters stereotypical or predictable, make the reader really think- I know that's what I desired as a teen. I'm not really old, I would still read a teen book now, but that's just my advice.

umm well if you think they are mating then don't eat them because i made that mistake..and yeah i wont go there, but put them back in the nest and wait about 24 hours, if she hasn't laid on them just give them to your dog or something.

Yes i would hunt for my food. I do it every year and replace 95% of my beef purchase with my deer. It's alot leaner and tastes better. you are less likely to waste food when you actually have to work for it too. mallards are very good, so is quail, natural chicken and their eggs.

If you have the proper setup and its not illegal, they can be. The only difference is color. Youd want to get them as ducklings so they bond to you and they look at you like your their parent. I never owned ducks, but I know they need a safe, dry place to sleep at night so predators cant get them, and need to be able to walk around in the grass outside and have a pond to swim in. You also are going to have duck poo to clean up. Not sure what they eat, I heard cracked corn and romaine lettuce and pond plants, but I think there is more you have to feed them.

Found baby ducks on side of the road...HELP!!?

Their Mother was killed by a car. Her head was taken clean off :( I brought them home, and have them in a clear bin in the bathroom. I gave them a little drinking cup and a very shallow tub of water. I got flock starter for baby birds and gave them a little of that. I'm setting up a heat lamp in a few minutes. I also put a small wild grass plant in a pot to give them something familiar. They still have most of their fluff. Only their tails have changed. They are mallards and their is only two. I am concerned as they keep making high pitched chirps and have been trying to jump out for the past 45 minutes. Is their anything else that I should do?

What Illness Did Director Shepherd have on NCIS?

In 2009 I believe they let on thru Dr. Mallard/or Ducky that some blood work Abby ran and some Exrays, maybe of the head, indicated that Director Shepherd was ill and dying, however she didnt die of the illness because she was killed in a shoot out when she went to Deckers funeral, a former agent she had worked with along with Gibbs. They had had a code word if the mission was ever compromised, So does anyone out there know what actually the disease was, maybe I missed the episode, even thou I watch them over and tape on dvr, what it really was, the disease I mean! One thing that confuses me is how people base thier entire identity on their sexual orientation. I am a bisexual transguy, mostly gay though but this is not my entire identity. Canadian Geese Why do I see the nest abandoned?

I live in an apartment complex that has a series of ponds. It attracts a lot of Canadian Geese, and a few Mallards. Last year we had a successful hatching of about 7 baby geese. This year I saw a new nest out in the open with mom sitting on it since early April. The last few days I haven't seen her on the nest, but she was near by. Today when I looked there were no adult geese near by and a nest full of about 9 eggs left alone. When I went for a late evening walk there was a pair of geese not far from the nest, but the mom was not on the nest. Did the parents give up on trying to hatch them? I'm not sure if it is the same pair that had babies last year, or if it is a new pair. It was a lot of fun to see the babies grow up here, and I was looking forward to seeing that again this spring. If they are not successful in hatching this new little family will they come back next year?

We're releasing mallard wild ducks back into the wild.....?

plan is to release them as soon as they have flight feathers and can fly. Ducks have now proved they can eat small fish, all types of greens found in the wilds, snails and bugs...ok my question is this...we wanted to release them in a small wild pond and be able to keep an eye on them to make sure they are doing good in the wild but this pond is not where the flooded nest was located....will the mallard try to get "home"?? If so will they fly there or try to walk??? If we do show up at the flooded nest where they were found as eggs, will the law have anything to say in the matter???

Parents that co-sleep, I have some questions about juggling 2 kids?

so my youngest child has decided she'd rather sleep in our bed than her cot (she's 8 months) and though I can get her to spend the first 3 hours in her cot she always ends up in the bed cuddling me, I don't really have a problem with this it just that I have an older child who has started having night terrors occasionally and its rather hard to get to him without waking her up when she's in the bed, same goes for morning, he often wakes around 6 and when I get up it wakes her up and she's still tired because she will sleep to about 7 if undisturbed. its also hard to get her to nap during the day as she wants to be cuddled then as well and doing that its impossible for me to do anything! I guess I'm just looking for some insight as to how I manage these issues, advice?

Okay, so I kind of am getting frustrated with my life. I work at a grocery store as a cashier, its really not an enjoyable job. The people I work with are horrible. I eat terribly and feel horrible because of it. The place I live (I live with my parents) is a complete dump. I don't have any education at all. My mom homeschooled me, without the schooling. I basically sat around and did nothing all my life. Now I am 19, I have been working for a few years, I have a car, just no license to drive it, and I have a few friends and my boyfriend. So I kinda want to start making my life now. I want an education. I have been juggling between nursing and photography. Trouble is, I don't know where to begin. Question about ducks in my pool?

Okay. I have an in ground pool. Every years ducks come to swim and we feed them. Well last year there was a female mallard, male mallard, and a male black duck. This trio would always come together, and the black duck would chase off the mallard from the female. Well this year the three come together and the two males are not fighting. In fact she seems to be spending equal amounts of time with both males. Is this unusual? The male green headed mallard has gotten bigger than last year, so the black one and the green headed one are about the same size now. Is that why? How can she have to mates?

Pet ducks laying eggs?

Hi I have some pet ducks that I've had for about a year. About last week they began to mate, but i though nothig of it, today I went into the garage (where they stay at night) and i fouund one egg. The eggs has not been in there for more than 12 hours. The hen was not sitting on it. idk if it's fertil. so i took it. The egg is really round i didn't think ducks layed round eggs. It looks like a ping pong ball, but i'm 100% sure its one of their eggs, i'm not sure if it's my pet mallards eggs or my pekin duck's eggs. i think it's mallard bc they're really small. i took the egg into the house bc Willma wasn't sitting on it. I'm thinking about just tossing it. but is there a chance that it will survive? it's been in the 60 degree F garage for like 12 hours, it's round, and it's a firs time mom's eggs. what do you guys recomend? i would love them to have a little family. but idk what to do with the egg. she doesn't seem to want it/ any advice? i'm going to try to incubate it for like 7 days to see if it's fertil (candle it), and if not i'll toss it. but do you guys have any advice in the mean time? thanks!

You are entitled to your feelings and can ask that your mom and sister not share that story, because it embarrasses you. However, your mom and dad have probably found many things you've done all your life, especially, things you've said as a toddler, that they found cute, funny and endearing. For anyone who has worked at, lives or lived at, or visits hotels often, how many desk clerks are there?

I have worked at a hotel for about a month now, and it's my first hotel job. I haven't visited many hotels, so I'm not really sure if it's normal to only have one desk clerk at a time regularly. I know sometimes there will be two when they are changing shifts or one is training or sometimes a manager will go to help, but what I mean is actual regularly scheduled clerks. It sucks when you do it all by yourself, and the morning schedule is the absolute worst, especially on the weekdays, since I work at an extended stay hotel, and it's mainly business people staying there. It's hard to focus on one thing at a time and you are constantly juggling requests and multitasking 2, 3, or sometimes more things at a time. Is it normal to have only one clerk at a time or is my manager just pinching pennies by only scheduling one person per shift? (I do know that when my manager came to the hotel, she dropped the desk clerk pay from $9.25 down to $8.25). Plus, in addition to the desk, we're responsible for stocking the stupid little store at the hotel whenever we can. I have cried several times out of the sheer stress I am in at this job, and we are not allowed to even sit down! For 8 hours! I've even had nightmares about it, waking up telling my husband in panic that I forgot to do something at work and was going to be in huge trouble. Is this crazy or is it just me?

Juggling school, work and being wife and mother..how do I do it all?

I have been a stay at home mom of 3 boys for 10 years, and now that the boys are all in school I have decided to go back to school. I am going to school only part-time because I was just offered a job, part-time. The problem is, my husband works full-time, and also goes to school full-time and only having one vehicle between us, due to financial reasons, it's going to make things complicated. I have school on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays during the day, and dance practices on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays evenings. He works during the day (he is a cop and does have the benefit of driving the car home) and has school on Mondays and Wednesday evenings (the rest of his classes are online). The classes I have to have before I can take any others are not offered online. I haven't started working yet but once I do I really don't have the choice of when I get to work..If I could choose my hours this wouldn't be such a problem. If I could choose not to work it would also solve the problem..but since my coaching position is volunteer, I more or less have to work to pay for the gas to get back and forth to practices or stop coaching. I would really hate to give it up because I enjoy doing it. However, taking on the job and the school I don't want to feel like Im neglecting my family. And now the boys are getting to the age of school sports and we will have basketball and soccer practices and games to add to this chaos as well. Not to mention the CPR classes my husband teaches as well. How does one do it all?

Music/Sound System Help Please!?

Ok so every summer I go down to the beach and juggle my soccer ball with me and some other friends. I always liked the idea of juggling to music in the background because it changes the mood and environment. Found mallard duck eggs, trying to save them! are they alive or dead?

Okay so, Sunday I was outside and I saw a duck and when she saw me she ran away. I noticed that there was a nest with 14 eggs in it. I didn't touch them. I kept waiting for the mother to come back but she never did. So yesterday (thursday) I went and took the eggs to try to save them. Whenever I picked them all up they were verrry cold. So I took all the eggs and made a nest like thing out of my heated blanket. Now they are all warmed up and fine. But I don't know if they are alive or not. This whole thing is random I've never done anything with hatching eggs before. I candled them and the only thing I see is like an orangish oval in the middle. At the bottom of the egg there's a small circle. I think its the air sack maybe? I don't know I've been getting all my info from google. But I checked them this morning and there still isn't any of the red veins that there should be. I don't know what to do:(

How can I turn the tables on a prank?

I am going camping in a couple of days and just found out that all of my friends are going to try and prank me with the whole "snipe hunt" prank. Which is pretty ridiculous because I'm not a ten year old boy scout haha. The weirdest thing happened the other day. A wild baby mallard (about a week old) wandered onto my driveway. The mother was no where to be found. So I took the duckling and gave him a home. It has been 2 days now and he (or she?) is doing great. I would like to get the little guy a buddy or 2 but all my local feed stores are out of ducklings. I was wondering if I could buy a couple pheasant/ chicken chicks about the same age and raise them together. Would this cause a problem? Ok so every summer I go down to the beach and juggle my soccer ball with me and some other friends. Start off using your foot. Try hitting the ball with your laces, and try hitting it to about shoulder height. Just practice doing that by dropping the ball and kicking it back up into your hands until you can consistently get the ball up to shoulder height. Then, repeat this with your other foot. It will probably take longer because it is your weak foot. Once you're proficient in this, start juggling. Only use your knees or thighs when you have to, because it does nothing for your ball handling skills, which is one of the best things about juggling. If you become a good juggler, it will help to improve your dribbling. As for other was to improve dribbling, set up some cones or just put objects on the ground and practice dribbling around them. I know it sounds boring, but the only way to improve at dribbling is through practice. Good luck.

The mother and the other ducklings are in the nearest water source and she is not coming back to get it. You cannot imprint it, that happens in the first 24 hours and it does not know how to swim or find food. You can go to the nearest pond, lake or stream and see if there are mothers with similar sized ducklings there. Put the little guy near those ducks, they may just gather him into their own flock or he may die but that is natures way. At least 3/4 of all ducklings hatched do not make it through the summer.

We have an inground pool and every year we get ducks. Last year we started getting a trio; two males and one female. One male is a typical mallard the other is a black duck. Chopped lettuce, Bread crumbs Meal worms and beetles are good for your duckling also you can buy started food from your local pet shop or life stock shop. Taking care of ducklings is fairly easy, however there are a few dangers to be aware of: Keep ducklings in a warm and safe environment. A plastic tote or a glass aquarium works great for the first few weeks. Use a heat lamp with a 250 watt bulb or two bulbs with 60 watts each. Adjust the height and wattage according to your ducklings behavior. If they seem warm and settled, not huddling under the lamp, they are probably warm enough. If they are scattered out, away from the lamp, they are too hot.Just give them a place in the pen that they can cool off if they should get too warm. Bedding in the brooder can be wood shavings or old towels. No newspaper as this gets slippery and can lead to leg problems. (DO NOT FEED YOUR DUCKS BREAD, CHIPS, POPCORN, ETC.) this is because these items do not hold the required nutrients for proper care of your duck. Only give ducklings thinly cut fruit and vegetables as a treat NOT AS A MEAL. they need specialized duck food. Do not use medicated chick feed, ever. Use a plastic or galvanized feeder. Always provide clean, fresh drinking water. Use a shallow bowl to which you have added a few clean, small pebbles. This will prevent the ducklings from drowning. Generally, ducks will eat more during autumn and winter months, than in spring and summer months. read is bad for them, and anything moldy can be FATAL. (It is not recommend to let them swim until you have has him for a month.) NEVER leave your ducklings outside unattended an animal may harm them. Learn that ducklings should be fully feathered before allowing them to swim. Depending on the type of duck, full feathers should be in place by 9-12 weeks of age Bedding in the brooder can be wood shavings or old towels. ever heard of BIRTH CONTROL??!!! any kind of birth control (like: condoms, the pill, the day after pill, the ring, the shot... ect...) would have helped you and your boyfriend come to reasonable terms. this is both your faults. one: you didnt learn from the first scare. and two: you still had unprotected sex with him. you both need to stop having sex until you learn how to protect yourself and him. (not saying that either of you have something) but this is an example of what EVERY teen mom goes threw. my boyfriend and i had a scare as well. but we had protection..(the condom broke) i used the day after pill. and when my period was late i made sure to get on the birthcontrol pill. then i had taken 4 pg tests and they all came out neg. but you see. i am on the pill and STILL using condoms.

What is the best bedding for baby ducks?

I called my local tractor supply store to see what they use for their baby ducks and it is pine shavings. I've read so much online saying they'll eat it and die. Is this true? I'm trying to raise 4 2 week old mallards inside until able to be released. Whats the best bedding I can use that is both absorbent and cost effective. Right now they're in two large totes with paper towels in one for resting dry and none in the other which contains food and water feeders. A tunnel connects the two but they will our grow this set up probably in one week. So now whats a good idea to finish raising them inside???? I clean the cage 3 times a day now with hot sprayed water in tub....but how will the next cage be best cleaned out and the clean bedding added????

Obviously its not a joke and it sounds like you have learned your lessen so i wouldn't beat yourself up over it and as goes for that girls cousin, they probably feel taken advantage of and don't trust you right now so that is why they blocked you. They will eventually forgive you, just leave them alone and do your own thing, the more you bother them the more they will get mad.

Why wont my duck get back in the water?

I hav a 5 yr old rouen female duck and recently she stopped going in the water. she lives on the lake and in her flock are 2 mallard males. recently the 2 males started fighting because it is mating season. one day when i went visit her at the lake i saw her running away while the 2 males were fighting. she went and hid in the brush and when they realized she was gone they went to look for her. they ended up swimming away in the lake. they are gone now but she has continued to camp in the woods for 5 days. ive been feeding her and bringing her a container of fresh water evryday, which she gladly accepts. she has been bathing in a large puddle in the woods. ive looked evrywhere and i cant find a nest. i cant think of any reason for her not to go back into the lake except for maybe shes waiting for her mallard buddies to come back or shes afraid to be on the lake alone. does anyone kno whut she could be up to?

How do i get into freestyle juggling?

I'm a good juggler and I know a few tricks with a regular ball, tennis ball, and sitting down. They're nothing to advanced but they're decent. I want to push myself and move to the next step, but I don't even know where to begin. There are so many different tricks shown on youtube! And until school is over...how will I find enough time for this, when I also have other aspects of my game to work on individually, and i have practices 3-4 times a week, and i have AP schoolwork? Hello. I'm from Malaysia. I'm actually 17, but I plan to hopefully take ballet classes when I'm in uni or when I start working. I actually took ballet classes but had to stop because I had hairline fractures in BOTH my legs. But my passion for ballet has only grown. I can't take ballet classes now because,firstly,I'm concentrating on my studies...and therefore have no time to spare for classes... Another reason is my parents can't afford it and think it's ridiculous to do ballet now, at 17. Thirdly, I'm worried about my old injury but a pretty sure it's healed because it happened when I was 9. So, is it alright to start ballet at like 22,23? I plan to juggle uni and a job.

Duck egg -mallard- shell is cracked but not the membrane - should I help?

It will need higher humidity so it doesn't get stuck in the shell. You should keep it moist with a fine warm water mist on the shell but not were it is cracked. When I helped a chick get out of it's shell I broke some tiny blood vessels that were attached to the inside of the shell and had to put flour on them to stop the bleeding. They can loose too much blood and die.

First off let me say I feel your pain, it's like you're preaching to the choir (I have 4 kids ages 3,6,7,9 and slim to no help). What you are experiencing is far to normal amongst mothers. Although there is no magical instant solution to your issue I can offer you some advice. You suffer from "super-mom-i-titus" which is the overwhelming desire to be the "perfect" Mom/wife/lover/cooker/housekeeper/friend… etc. and when you feel you are falling short you feel guilty. You have to keep in mind that if you are putting your own needs last then you aren't going to be able to care for your child the best you can. It is 100% okay for you to let the little things slide sometimes. The dishes aren't going to complain if they are neglected for a day or two so you can nap while the baby naps. Next, you're going to have to find a more efficient way to manage your daily routine. For example I noticed you mention you pump exclusively, would it be possible for you to breast feed instead which will kinda kill two birds with one stone. Your child will be recieving the cuddling he desires and he'll get fed at the same time. Also you mentioned that he spits up a lot. Maybe you should have him checked out by his pediatrician in respect to a possible reflux problem. If he does have an underlying issue you might find that once it's taken care of his temperment and sleeping patterns may regulate themselves. Another suggestion to help free up a little daily time for you is to set aside one day a week that you do all your cooking for the week and freeze the portions to be reheated during the week. Then if need be all your hubby has to do to get a home-cooked meal is reheat it. And finally...Never feel ashamed to ask for help. If you are exhausted, you are no good to your baby anyways so if you don't feel like asking your hubby to help then if possible call a friend, or relative and ask for some help.
